Default Lucky Dog Procedure?

EDIT: This thread is no longer relevant as iRacing has added a wave-around command that can be used to award the Lucky Dog.

After the first SSS race, one of our biggest requests was that we implemented the lucky dog/free pass. We awarded the lucky dog/free pass in yesterday's SSS race at Talladega for the first time.

What are your thoughts on awarding the lucky dog? What can be improved?

I see three ways we can handle this, aside from eliminating lucky dogs completely:

1) Stop allowing lucky dogs until iRacing implements a system to do lucky dogs from within the sim automatically

2) Continue using the procedure used yesterday -- after the green flag waves, maintain pace speed for one lap

3) Use the pit road method where all lead lap cars drive through pit road the first lap under caution, and the lucky dog essentially takes the wave-around

Thanks!

Number two is the most common I believe as well as easiest...only confusion is you need to be clear when there is a LD restart.

as discussed in another thread, leader restarts the race whether it's LD caution or not so what is the difference? Drivers hsould be paying attention each lap not just the RS lap

The biggest issue seems to be holding the field a lap for the lucky dog. While it's effective in doing what we need, it takes away a lap from green flag racing.

Great news! We'll be able to do lucky dogs with iRacing's new hosted commands. No more holding a lap.

I saw that today reading through it. Solves a bunch of issues that we've had.

My new favorite command is the !nch command, which disables text and voice chat.
