5.5 A brief driver's meeting covering special notes, rules and expectations will be given via voice chat in the final minutes of the qualifying session. Drivers are to remain quiet and hold their questions until the end of the driver's meeting.
6) Race Expectations
6.1 Penalties given by the simulation software cannot and will not be cleared. Drivers must serve all simulation-issued penalties.
6.2 The car on the inside of the first row will start the race. Other drivers may not attempt to jump or anticipate the start, as this causes unexpected slow-downs/check-ups throughout the field. Drivers are to maintain a safe, steady pace speed until the leader has started/restarted the race. Drivers in pacing lines should not be more than 5 mph faster than the leader when he begins accelerating to restart the race.
6.3 Cars that are warping, lagging, or otherwise displaying signs of a poor Internet connection should safely move outside the racing groove and to the back of the pack away from other cars until the issue is resolved. Drivers will be asked to park their cars in the event of excessive warping.
6.4 On-track retaliation is not permitted and will not be tolerated.
6.5 Voice chat is only to be used for race-related comments (e.g. "Sorry", "Leaders, go high/low", "Pitting this lap", "Crash in turn 3", "Slowing for pace car", etc). The channel should be kept clear. Comments after incidents, with the exception of apologies, should not be expressed through voice or text chat in the sim. Complaints should be handled and discussed after the race, as discussed in Section 7 of the Vidane Racing Rulebook.
6.6 Drivers are expected to maintain control of their vehicles at all times and should park their car if they cannot demonstrate handling the vehicle. Drivers causing two cautions as a result of self-spins, i.e., losing control without contact from another competitor, are expected to park their car.
6.6 Free Pass/Lucky Dog Procedure: The first non-lead-lap car at the time of caution that is not involved in the cause of the caution will be awarded a free pass (wave-around under caution) to earn one lap back. This driver will be named under caution shortly after the caution flies.
6.6.1 "Wave Arounds" will only be awarded by the sim and will not be manually adjusted. The sim will award a lapped car the right to pass the pace car and rejoin the tail end of the field if that car stayed out while the leaders pitted on the first lap of caution. If the sim tells a driver to drop to the back of the pack on a restart, he must do so.
6.7 Drivers must drive down pit road through the pit road, not through the pit stalls. Drivers should not any pit stall more than one stall in front or behind their own.
6.8 Drivers should communicate their intention to pit either via voice chat or text chat.
6.9 Drivers should merge safely back on to the race surface after a pit stop and communicate their position to upcoming and ongoing cars if necessary.
6.10 Drivers should be aware of their surroundings after an accident and move out of the racing groove safely.
6.11 Passing under the solid white/yellow line separating the racing surface from the apron of the track at Daytona and Talladega is prohibited unless avoiding a crash already in progress.
7) Post-Race Procedure
7.1 Drivers should safely stop their cars and exit the track following the race. The safest place to do this is on pit road. Contact or retaliation following the checkered flag will not be tolerated.
7.2 If a driver has an incident with another driver that requires further ruling, it should be submitted to Vidane Racing officials using the confidential Incident Report form in the forum. On-track retaliation or public communication toward a driver he is protesting will nullify and invalidate the incident report and could result in penalties for the retaliating driver.
7.3 Incident Reports must be filed within 24 hours of the completion of the scheduled event.
7.4 Drivers are subject to penalties regardless of whether if an incident report is filed by another driver.
7.5 If a driver feels a penalty is unfair, he can contact Vidane Racing officials and file an appeal to the penalty by emailing appeals@vidane.com, explaining clearly why the penalty is unjust.
